Install and Wire Up Your Amplifier Like an Audio God

A well-built power amp cleans up sound quality, improves bass response and delivers the right amount of power to efficiently drive multiple speakers in distributed audio system or home theater. Our AMP is a flagship amp that sells well for a reason. It is stable at 2 ohm load. Dual Source Switching The AMP also includes dual source switching to connect two audio sources and toggle between them for greater listening flexibility. Automatic source switching switches between connected sources with a priority signal-sensing feature, so if a DVD player is connected to input 2, then you decide to stream a movie through a game console, when the console is turned on, the AMP automatically switches to that source. The AMP also includes a variable delay control that lets you adjust the amount of time needed to “listen” for a signal from your main input, between 3 and 15 seconds. This prevents gaps between music tracks from accidentally switching your inputs. This high power amplifier includes two RCA signal level inputs so with the addition of an RCA-to-mini stereo cable sold separately , you can connect your smartphone or other device. Plenty of Power for the Price Pair our AMP with the power-hungry speakers, and the sound quality will transform your listening experience. In bridged mode, you can combine the left and right channels into one audio channel which bumps up the power to a whopping Watts 8 ohms.

Of course, you can get this same effect by simply turning up the level on the sub, or raising the output level through the receiver. Only in those few instances where you cannot match the levels by turning up the output level on both the receiver and the sub would you actually need to use a Y-splitter. On a lot of subs that have L and R inputs, they are intended to use the subwoofer’s crossover when using two-channel separates.

Before trying to hook up your subwoofer, you need to identify the connections it , take a look at the back of your subwoofer. You’re looking for an AC power cord (to ensure its a powered subwoofer) and two RCA jacks labeled “Line-In”.

Reading, Pennsylvania yea id agree with ya,,, id probably spend the extra money and get the one that plugs into the harness though,, will make for a cleaner install and plus if you ever wanna change out the head unit all the wires will be behind the head unit AvenDanger said: I assume you have the standard system, and if so try this kit from PAC. It plugs in between the factory radio and the factory harness and converts the signal to rca line level, and includes a remote turn on lead.

The two modules are NOT interchangable, so make sure you know whether you have Boston or standard. These are spendier solutions, but they are plug-n-play, and will yield the best sound quality. Otherwise, you can buy a basic Line Output Converter and attach it to the rear speaker leads to get an RCA level signal into the amp. In most older cars, you could usually dig around in the harness and find a switched power source for the remote turn on, but since the Avenger has a can-bus wiring system, some wires do more than one thing making this practice unsafe.

To get a turn on lead without one of the above modules, tap into the power outlet in the dash or console. Do a search on the term LOC and you’ll get a lot of results from people on here who’ve added subs to their factory radios. Good luck, have fun, and post up some pics when you’re done!

Let’s build some scoops!

Next If your subwoofer doesn’t have an internal amplifier , you’ll definitely want to connect an amplifier to it. To do this, you’ll need your subwoofer, an amplifier, at least one set of RCA cables these are the red, white, and yellow jacks on a single cable , speakers , and speaker wires. First, you’ll want to think about where you’ll keep the subwoofer.

Because the subwoofer is working mostly on the bass the low tones , it doesn’t require as much directional pushing as speakers do. Since you’ll have to run cables and wires between the subwoofer and other devices, you might want to keep it just a few feet from your screen. To get started with the actual hook-up, you’ll connect the subwoofer to the amplifier using the RCA cable.

Wiring snake or wire coat hanger 1. With the higher quality kits, these cables often come with a ring terminal attached to one of their ends. Remember to disconnect your negative battery cable from the terminal before you start any electrical work on your car. You may have to peel back the carpet in the interior for a better view. That way you can just poke a hole through the grommet and run your power cable through. Once your hole is just big enough to pass the cable, protect the edges of the hole with some paint or rust inhibitor like POR Once the paint is dry, install a rubber grommet or firewall bushing into the hole to protect your cable from chaffing against the sharp metal edges.

Run the power cable through the grommet from the inside of the car with the ring terminal going towards the battery. As you route the cable inside the engine bay be sure the cable is far enough away from moving engine parts and anything that could pinch it. Caulk any gaps around the inner edge of the grommet if necessary. Leave the power cable disconnected from the battery for now. Most wiring kits come with the correct fuse and fuse holder but if you have to buy one separately, the fuse size depends on the maximum current draw of your system.

How do i connect my amp wires to my stereo?

I just added this and I was wondering what system would you recommend to me if I want some thump! I was thinking about 2 12″s or 1 15″ would that be to much? Depends on what exactly you are going for, type of music you listen to, amount of space you’re willing to give up, and your budget. Music like hip-hop, rap, urban type stuff have a lot of low frequencies in the music, which is most of the time easier to reproduce with a ported or bandpass type of enclosure.

But these boxes are bigger than sealed boxes, taking up more space.

Aug 03,  · Ahh, now I see. Yes, you’ll need either a crossover,,, or you could wire the coaxes and the tweeters in series (to ensure that you don’t go below the rated ohms of the amp), and then attach a set of bass blockers to the tweeters.

Thanked 8 Times in 3 Posts Wiring factory face up with subs Here’s something else you will need though Go to Advance Auto Parts, Autozone, any place like that I’ll explain what this is for in a bit Hook it up within inches from your battery or power point. Once that is through, run the wire under the panels along the side of your car back to your trunk, or wherever you desire to put your amp. Now it’s time to test your amplifier to see if it powers up.

How to hook up a subwoofer to a stereo system

Jan – This dancetech site has alot of sections, thousands of pages, but this pa section gets well over a million hits a year – almost all those visits are from new people – If you would like to add any type of article or video on building cabs or anything like that to do with PA or live gigging tech or lighting etc you get links to your company or site or whatever Incidently, just a bit of historical stuff here: The first amplified rock concert given in the UK was by Tommy Steele believe it or not!!

PA systems can be as simple as a mixer going into a pair of powered speaker cabs, all the way up to sodding great

May 28,  · Already have the amp and sub and will be building a simple box for the sub. The one item that i am going to need is a connection from the stock stereo to the amp. I have found that i need a line output converter to do this.

Today I had a couple of young sparkies come into my work to do some odd jobs for us. They only deal with commercial calls. I asked one of them about this and his advice was to change the 15amp plug to a standard 10amp one. He said since the house runs on 20amp circuits I’ve checked the circuit breakers even at w the machine shouldn’t overload the circuit — even with say the fridge etc running, he reckoned the total draw of all that would only be a few hundred watts, which would put it bellow the 20amp limitation I forget what that is in watts.

He said that in doing all this, if it didn’t work all that would happen was the circuit breaker would trip. He didn’t think there was any real risk in this, and that the only side effect would be a possible discolouration of the power outlet — although he didn’t explain why, but that if there was a fault at any time the circuit breaker or safety switch would trip. I would have taken his word for it except he was young — early 20’s, and I don’t quite know if he is an authority on the matter since he obviously couldn’t be blamed if it all went tits up.

Need Advice on Hooking up 2 Subs to Mono Amp??

The average quality of computer speaker systems is improving. That’s not saying much. It couldn’t get much worse. It’s always been possible to connect a really good sound system to a PC – well, to any PC with sound hardware beyond the PC speaker , anyway. Since all PC sound cards have a normal unbalanced one-stereo-pair line level output, you can just plug ’em straight into a stereo, home theatre or PA system of arbitrary gruntiness, and you’re away.

Mar 21,  · I want to hook up an amp and subwoofer in my boat. I wanna hook up a second battery that solely runs the amp by ityself as well. Here is my setup – Lund Boats 17 Sirius BR, Evinrude HP ETXCE, I am currently running everything (starting, stereo, bilge pump, livewell, (no trolling motor), and lights.

Tube Stuff Suppliers Appendix B. Tube amps have always been the amplifier of choice for the working musician. Musical myth has ascribed almost magical tone to them. While the results may not be entirely magic, tubes do have a sound that is different from solid state amplifiers, and one that happens to make amplified music sound better to the human ears and brain. There are lots of technical and psuedo-technical explanations for why this should be true, but there is enough solid evidence that it is a real effect to trust it.

The real reason to use tube amps is simply that they sound better. For that advantage, we put up with the poor supply of parts, high prices, fragility and excess heat that they produce. Are Tube Amps louder than solid state amps of the same power? Some excellent scientific work on tube preamplifiers and their distortion products has turned up the mechanism for this. When tubes are driven outside their linear region, for the first 12db or so of overdrive the harmonics that they produce trick the human ear into thinking that the sounds are getting louder, when in fact the sound is getting progressively more distorted.

It is this acoustic trick that can make tube amps sound up to 12db louder than they actually are compared to a perfect, undistorted amplifier. A solid state amplifier of the same power as a tube amp may distort at the same signal level as the tube amp, but the distortions are not subtle, and we hear them as distortion, not as a slightly louder sound. A solid state amplifier of much greater power would remain undistorted at higher levels, and the tube amp would sound comparably loud to the larger solid state amp.

They sound larger than they are.

How do you wire an amplifier to 2 subs? Hook the positives up to the positive leads on the subs, and the negatives to the negatives. Make sure you get… corresponding positive and negative to each sub. Stereo amp running bridged mono: It’s normally the outter positive and negative leads, but refer to the manual. Wire same way as a mono amp, just use the bridge outputs. Mono or Bridged would be running 2 ohms if you are running single coil subs. Stereo would be 4 ohms.

Here is a Post from another person [unknown] with his step-by-step experiences in adding a sub amp, etc.. Note that the Monsoon amp turned on by detecting small signal level changes in the Speaker input lines; there was not a separate Remote Amp Turn On wire. I originally copied these posts in case I dig into Da Wife’s ‘ The wiring colors and pinouts are very valuable to have on file ;-0 In case you haven’t read so elsewhere, the Monsoon HU is kinda weird in that it adds only a final stage of amplification and provides crossover and rolloff functions.

This is why it is so light and doesn’t have massive Power Supply components, etc..

Oct 21,  · i just bought 2 10″ JL’s and a memphis amp and i need to hook it to the factory stereo on my 03 tahoe! The wires I listed at the beginning of the thread go straight to the factory sub from the amp. This is where you’ll want to hook up the LOC.

How Do I Hook Up Non-Powered Subwoofer Connections If your subwoofer doesn’t plug into a power outlet, that means it isn’t powered. So how do you connect it? The best way to go about it is through your front speakers. You’ll need some extra speaker wire to do this. Plugging Speaker Wire into your Subwoofer If you haven’t already read Running Speaker Wire , than you might not know a simple rule about speaker wire: When you run cable for the left and right channels like your front speakers, or your rear speakers , you should keep the length of the speaker wire the same.

For instance, if you use 8ft for the front left speaker, use 8ft for the front right, too. You can use different lengths for the rears as long as the rear speaker wires match eachother. By that same token, you’re going to need some speaker wire to go from your receiver to your subwoofer and then from your subwoofer to your front speakers. Its important to keep the pairs of wires equal in length.

How to hook up a subwoofer to a stereo system Hint: You don’t necessarily need a receiver with subwoofer output jacks. Subs can provide a foundation to the sound that few speakers can muster on their own.

Sep 03,  · When you hook up the aftermarket sub, I advise to disconnect the factory Bose sub. Dig into the console and unplug the Bose amp’s C2 (8 pin) connector, then pull the DARK BLUE/WHITE, DARK GREEN, LIGHT BLUE/BLACK, LIGHT GREEN/BLACK wires out of the connector, then plug the C2 connector back in.

How to wire 2 amplifiers to 2 sub-woofers? First off make sure you have the amps ran properly. Next to run this set up you need to get some Y jacks from radio shack so both amps are hooked into the subwoofers preout on the back of the deck. Next hopefully both your amps are either 2-ch or mono. If it is 2-ch bridge one on each amp this way… you use both channels on the amp. If it is mono it is only one channel anyway.
